PROJECT: Application Organisation Routing and Transport Architecture (Aorta)

From: Synthesis Software Technologies (Pty) Limited [formerly CQS Technology Holdings (Pty) Limited]

The company started by initially supplying software solutions to the auditing profession. Over time the company expanded its range to include software aimed at internal auditing and risk management in general. In 1999, the company also started focusing on the development of software for the financial sector.

Information technology users often have difficulty in getting these applications to talk to each other in real time. This leads to duplication of data, as well as time-delayed updates of data, both of which are factors promoting inefficiencies.

Aorta is a virtual, native application server/integration broker. The Aorta product suite enables legacy applications to run on their native platforms without the use of an intervening integration broker. Application functionality is exposed as web services so that the nature and characteristics of the host platforms are completely hidden, and client applications view the collection of web services as an application server.

Aorta can be used to integrate seemingly incompatible applications and systems within an organisation and it can also be used to integrate one enterprise with another. In this way, Aorta provides for a single technology and product suite that can be used in application development as an enterprise application integrator (EAI) and B2B integrator within an enterprise. The Aorta product suite also includes high-end security features particularly useful to the financial sector. Aorta's proprietary technology allows for faster data processing than is typically achievable by competing products.

Aorta has been successfully deployed by a number of financial sector clients.
